tax dollars
it's almost 5 am and i can't sleep. that noisy propeller sounding plane is flying over my house again. i think it's a spy plane. the noise is pretty constant. as if it is hovering just above my roof.
we heard today that Israeli troops are pulling out a little in the South. Does this mean that their new shipment of bombs have arrived? the expedited delivery from America? they don't have to sacrifice soldiers on the ground anymore... now they can just blow us up from the skies.
here we go, ladies and gentlemen, a new round of bombings... what is there left to bomb anyway? the South of Lebanon is on fire. Saida is on fire. Beirut is on fire. i can't keep track of things.
biggest joke of the week: Condi went to Rome to try and make peace, but in the meantime America is sending Israel new bombs.
can someone tell me what they were thinking?
and worst news of all... with all this attention on Lebanon, the world is not paying attention to the new attacks on Gaza. for the last 2 days there has been constant shelling on Gaza. the sick joke here is that the Israelis were upset about having to pull out of the South, so they are taking it out on the Palestinians now.
when will we all learn that violence begets violence.
my dear american friends, your tax dollars are really starting to annoy me. no matter how much you protest the idea, you are all involved in this as much as i am. i know so many of you are protesting this, but it seems like your congress is not. if you really want to help me here, please speak to your congress. ask them to stop this madness.

Many of us have and do write our representatives. apparently the pocktbooks of Raytheon, Northrop Grumman, Remington Arms and other war materials manufacturers speek louder than us.
As with you and many others on both sides of the war all we in the US can do is keep trying and hope for the best.
It's important to protest America inside, Americak citiziens must criticize their goverment.
As Rich said killers are stronger than us, but do not give up! Please arrange demostrations and do something to scream peace! Bush must listen to you!
We know, USA's economy is built on arm, they produce and sell weapons and of course they do not care Peace! But If there will be a collective conscious for Peace in USA and world, USA goverment will not be able to ignore your force. Americans, wake up! There are many countrys on map except USA! And they do not want USA's democracy. This democracy brings blood and tears...This is not democracy, this is a massacre.
Zena, thanks for your reply to my e-mail. I added your blog to my website. Keep blogging as much as you can.
I wish it were as simple as protesting, or writing to our congress people. What you don't know is that 99% of Americans feel completely powerless in the political system. It's like we have no say at all. Short of overthrowing our on government, I don't know what we could do to stop the American juggernaut. Voting doesn't seem to work. Neither do protests. Everyone seems to hate Bush and think he's a joke, and yet he still got elected for a second term. Who knows how that happened? Who knows if electing someone else would've made a difference?
MERKOVA you are a very sick person with a very sick mind.
this psychopath, MERKOVA, is not even an american nor he pays any taxes,

MERKOVA is writing from jail ( where he is serving for muliple cirmes). please delte his post.
i feel your sorrow.USA,france and england gave 1/3 of hungary to that stupid romania. They have no rights und they suppress everybody.
Zena, i agree with you our congress and especially our supreme self appointed leader are wimps [i hope you get the satire]i havent heard anything about the us giving weapons to isreal , i dont know if we would hear. our govt is corrupt and so bent on secretsa . its frightening , i know you asked for no political info in here but thats the very foundation of the problem: politics. i have read many books written by holocaust survivors , and went to the holocaust memorial in DC back in dec. i was so moved and still am. What mankind can do to others is horreendous!~ . so my conflict is the jewish people know more than anyone about genocide and the horrors associated with it . i am so far away geographically, i try to understand all sides. its difficult to be objective when bombs are killing children. You are a peace loving citizen of the world and i hope i qualify for that also. my sould still aches for all ther destruction . i wish we could all live in peace and prosperity without prejudices, i believe it can and must happen , but all these enormous egos have to be removed. bye for now , don/dallas

Zena, Many people choose to forget that America is there to help in times of crisis. Though our tax dollars do fund our military, and the weapons, those tax dollars also send aid to many countries. I wonder what these countries would do if this aid money were to just cease coming to them?
Though I hate war, it is a reality that there are evil men in the world. Unfortunately, that requires any peoples who wish to survive, an investment in their own defense. In my lifetime, I have not seen war on American soil. I have seen very little terrorism on American soil. That is the main reason I support a government that invests in our defense. I do not think of that as being a "war monger". I think of that as mere survival.
Just think, if the Lebanese government had been powerful enough, and chosen to boot Hezbollah out of your country, you would not even have this blog. You would still be living your normal life.
I do long for peace in the world. I, like most people, hate war and find it senseless. But I am also realistic. I don't forget that there are evil men in the world who would kill me just because I am not like them.
This being said, I do not support every action that our American govenment leaders decide to take.
Dear Zena,
Reading your blog, I wish the members of
Congress, and the president could/would read it as well.
American taxpayers(I can speak for myself), are enraged that our hard earned money is being used in a war we did not sanction, nor support.
I intend to write to my congress reps, as well as Bush to stop being two-faced; don't talk about a cease-fire.
If they didn't use American weapons, the war would not have gotten this far.
My heart breaks for the deaths of all the innocent victims of war; men, women, and children who just want to live.
