Destruction we can rebuild but this is outright environmental terrorism.

A leak from a ship could never have been responsible for the extent of this disaster : nearly 40% of the lebanese coast has been polluted. The spill is due to the Jieh power plant being bombed by Israel. 10,000 tons of fuel from its reservoirs have leaked and 15,000 more is expected reach the seawaters if nothing is done to control the raging fires and fix the reservoirs, six/seven days after the bombing...

Israel (Jews, Hebrews) were in the "Promise Land" 1000 years ( I could be wrong about how long before, but I assure you it was many generations) before Islam was ever thought of. That is for starters. Hezbollah is an army within a sovereign country that provoked this recent war. Hezbollah has stated that they want to wipe out the Jews ( I assume this will included women and children as well as the elderly). All across the Middle East and throughout Islam there is a fervor that looks forward to the day that Islam becomes the dominant entity in the world. This has been stated over and over. I have yet to see believers of Islam come forward to combat this foolish belief. Islam dominating the planet. If one thinks that America can be beaten one needs only to look at both world wars. So what if it takes 100 years. So be it. As far as Qana goes. Either it is a calculated provocation on behalf of Hezbollah by using civilians as shields or a sad mistake on behalf of IDF. Not for a second do I believe Israel bombed that building as an act of evil. Personally I think it's a hoax created by Hezbollah. Allow me to explain. I woke up this morning to CNN. No where did I see cuts bruises or bleeding on any of the "victims" in that newscast. Why is that? Let me predict the future for the Middle East. Look to Germany and Japan during the 1940's. This idea that one cannot target civilians are crazy. I guess only Hezbollah, the Iraqi insurgents and the likes of OBL can target civilians. Only when America and supporters of individual civilian rights understand what Hezbollah, Iraqi insurgents and OBL and company already know. Civilians will be the major targets in any war will this crazy, insane, preposterous idea of world dominance be defeated. Believe what you may, but freedom and individual rights for all will prevail. And again. So what it takes 100 years.
I wish you luck

The rules of POLITICAL CORRECTNESS when it comes to the Israeli-Arab conflict:

Rule # 1: In the Middle East, it is always the Arabs that attack
first, and it's always Israel who defends itself. This is called "Retaliation".

Rule # 2: The Arabs, whether Palestinians or Lebanese, are not allowed to kill Israelis. This is called "Terrorism"

Rule # 3: Israel has the right to kill Arab civilians; this is called “Self-Defense", or these days "Collateral Damage".

Rule # 4: When Israel kills too many civilians. The Western world
calls for restraint. This is called the "Reaction of the International Community".

Rule # 5: Palestinians and Lebanese do not have the right to capture Israeli military, not even a limited number, not even 1 or 2. This is called "Kidnapping".

Rule # 6: Israel has the right to capture as many Palestinians as they want (Palestinians: around 10000 to date, 300 of which are children,Lebanese: 1000s to date, being held without trial). There is no limit; there is no need for proof of guilt or trial. This is called "War on Terrorism".

Rule # 7: When you say "Hezbollah", always be sure to add "supported by Syria and Iran". this is called: "Axis of Evil" Rule # 8: When you say "Israel", never say "supported by the USA, the UK and other European countries", for people (God forbid) might believe this is not an equal conflict. This is called "Helping our Friends".

Rule # 9: When it comes to Israel, don't mention the words "occupied
territories", "UN resolutions",”Geneva conventions". This could distress the audience and is called "Anti-Semitism".

Rule # 10: Israelis speak better English than Arabs. This is why we
let them speak out as much as possible, so that they can explain rules 1 through 9. This is called "Neutral Journalism".

Rule # 11: If you don't agree with these rules or if you favor the
Arab side over the Israeli side, you must be a very dangerous
anti-Semite. You may even have to make a public apology if you express your honest opinion like Mel Gibson. This is called "Democracy".

now, i am english, bear with me here, i am also a srong christian....

without a doubt it is terrible what is happening in the middle east... but surely lebanon are as much to blame as any other country in the middle east...including israel...

at the end of the day, hezbollah went into israel and killed and kidnapped soldiers....isreal had every right to march into lebanon...

the lebanese government has only stated denouncing hezbollah, only beacue he hopes britain and america will help out wirth supplies...

yes the israeli army may have gone over the top, but its a war, its unfortunately expected...

lebanon comapred to other countries surrounding israel are superb, i say that in a sense its not like iran saying they will 'wipe out every jew in the world'...but unfortunately islamic extremism breeds wars and terrorism...

ask yourself this question...

do you denounce hezbollah? they are the real terrorists....not the israeli army or the majority of the lebanese nationals....

its a sad day for the human race since with all the hell that's bieng inflicted on Lebanon that people still cannot allow you to grieve or ask for basic human rights unless you denounce everyone they want you to denounce before every breath. the reponse to a threat has been infinitally more bruttal than any realization of a threat could have delivered.

Until the Lebanese realise that their harbouring of Hezbollah is responsible for the woes visited upon themselves, the Prime Minister should aways take along a 'blanket'in a pocket at press conferences to wipe away his crocodile tears.

In answer to "fools" the thought came to me about the Jews and the Promised Land. Actually it was about 4,000 years ago that God promised Israel to the Abraham, and the Jews received it about 500 years after that. They fought to gain the land but when they depended on their own strength or armaments, they always lost. When they depended only on the Lord they prospered. The dependence on God was the single fact that kept the Jews blessed and in possession of their own land.

The Jews only lived in Israel for about 1,500 years, sometimes in prosperity and plenty, sometimes under the rule of foreign powers and sometimes kicked out entirely from the land, again, according to their humility and dependence on God. The kingdom flourished under King Solomon, who was a man of peace, and Israel came to its largest proportions, known as Eretz Israel at that time. King David before him had a good fighting spirit and stood up for what was right. His great accomplishments, writing many of the Psalms, shows how he was often weak and needy, with only God to help while he lived much of his life in humility and desperation. Unfortunately, with the powerful help of a world superpower, today’s Israel can not compare to Kind David.

Then about 2000 years ago, when most of the Jews went the wrong way in a big way and rejected their own Savior they soon lost their homeland entirely and were scattered throughout all the Earth.

Sadly, today half the Jews don’t even believe in God. I wonder that since they consider themselves the chosen people, Who it was that chose them?

The Israelis have men of peace and men of war, just like everyone else. Sadly, it is the men of war who are in the fore today. It would do us all well to remember that in the end, it is always the peacemakers who inherit the earth.

To Josef. Your knowledge of 1982 war is "amazing". The only thing you forgot to mention is what preceded it. I will remind you. For a couple of years Northern Israel was bombed by Hesbolla rockets. Hesbolla and PLA terrorists systematically crossed the border and killed innocent civilians in Kiryat Shmona and in Naharia. Only after Israel had had enough of all that it decided to put an end to it. Now as to the war waging right now. For six years after Israeli army had left Southern Lebanon Northern Israeli cities have been bombed by Hesbolla rockets. Hesbolla captured and brutally killed three Israeli soldiers in 2001. This time when they did it again Israel felt that it had enough of it. Here you are my friends. You have war. One more thing. I strongly believe that whoever uses civilians as cover for its operations is responsible for their injuries and deaths.

To Alex, for your information Jews have won six major wars to this date. Most of them involved all Arab armies in the area like Egiptian, Syrian Jourdanian, Iraqi etc. All the wars were initiated by Arabs as one of the blogers mentioned in his "rules". Only involvement of Soviet Union saved Egypt and Syria from complete distruction. Doesn't it tell you anything?

To Robert. "it is always the peacemakers who inherit the earth" That is right. This is what Jesus said. The thing is He meant peacemakers not politicians who are pretending to be peacemakers.
You are right about Israel not believing in God. But,on the other hand, we are not in the position to judge Israel. You see in the end we will be judged according to our attitude towards Israel. Don't forget they are still chosen. And Jesus came to save them first. The fact that they did not follow Him does not change their being His chosen people. Remember the promise given by God to Abraham: Whoever blesses you I will bless and whoever curses you I will curse. Look where all Israel's enemies are (Roman empire, Persian empire, British empire, Greeks Assyrians, and so on). They were wiped out.

Hi iam a British Christian and i do feel for the Lebanese people, I feel that the British government has let the Arab world and British public down. My personal opinion Israel should be seen a the aggressor killing innocent lives in Lebanon, people in the UK feel for you and no matter what we say to our government, they never listen, their will be one less person voting labour next time round. It seems the general public has lost control, while the British government has lost touch with the uk citizens. I do agree with the Lebanese government not to accept the French US proposal until a UN resolution with a full cease fire is written in.

Hi, Zena.

Thanks for the blog and coverage that often gets left out of 'doctored press coverage'. I feel pity for the inhabitants of Lebanon and Israel, human and animal alike (you may read animal whichever way you want). Wars are terrible things and inevitably many innocents get hurt on both sides, but in non-warring countries, too.

It is apparent that any declarations from foreign countries are about political gain. In Arab countries it is to rally their people's support; in western countries it is to pretect their lifestyle from repercussions; and in third world countries, it is to gain political allegencies. We are all in it with you, and we all feel for you, because, though it is not through man's anger, there issufferring in all countries all the time. For example, the Tsunami victims in Asia, the earthquake victims in the Mediteranean area, the flooding in South Africa, where hundreds of people have been killed and thousands displaced. And like all countries, the leaders are generally still playing political games during this time, instead of looking after their own. Here in South Africa, with billions of Rands (our currency) of damage to infrastructure, homes, crops, etc., over 50% unemployment, limited education, limited housing, unprecedented debt levels an malicious violent crime - generally the afflictions of third-world countries - we are still diverting huge amounts of our currency to aid Lebanon (it is apparent that Israel does not need aid...). That is political.

I think that the Lebanese government is doing the same thing to its people by not denouncing Hezbolla. I admit that I am not there and I know only what I read and research, but I hope that you can trust that it is more than just western sources and that I try to gain a rounded view. By not encouraging Hezbolla to release the Israeli soldiers, they called this down on the Lebanese people, and the Lebanese people are sufferring. Many of my close friends here in South Africa have lost family to death and injury in Lebanon, so I feel their pain. If the Lebanese government wanted to resolve issues with Israel peacefully, then capturingtwo of its soldiers was the wrong way to go about doing it. I am aware of the history, I have read it all, I know of Israel's capturing of Arab soldiers, but the fact remains: want to start a war with Israel? Then capture its soldiers...

As for Israel, my view is that it has a new government wanting to show how it 'looks after its own' - another political agenda and many innocent Israelis have died for it. Yes, you read right: Many ISRAELI innocents have also died. Hezbolla is as much to blame as Israel. And the Lebanese government is bickering over the terms of the ceasefire. Surely the priority should be to stop the killing first, then discuss the pull-out. That would be looking after your people. But the political fact is that as long as the killing continues, there is more sympathy and they can manipulate the UN better. Governments - I long for one that really looks after its people.

So, I ended up on my soap box again. I really only wanted to let you know that we feel for your situation, and that of the Israelis (not that you need me to say that - there are enough postings on your site to ratify that), and that you are not alone in your suffering. We are losing loved ones right here, too. Thank you for your frank reports on what's happening inside. Our prayers are with you all, that God will show mercy and stop the fighting.

You are talking about your beaches. Don't accuse us about this. Hizbolla is also burning our national parks. The estimation is that they will take around 60 years to be repaired. By the way, how the oil get to the beach! we didn't target any ship! Ohhh, I remember now, that Hezbolla sank a comercial ship! I will suggest to take Hezbolla guys to clean the beach!

It is so wrong for Hezbolla to want to wipe out Isreal and all of it's people, But why isn't it wrong to bomb Lebanon and kill and destroy? Who provoked who...who cares, Two wrongs = Two wrongs. Move forward from blame and on to what everyone knows is the right thing to do. Stop using eachother as an excuse to hurt eachother.

I understand the worldwide fear the war in Lebanon is causing. I still have a hard time with all the people that blam the United States. I pray for the Lebanese people and I am shocked at some of the things Israel has done but Hezbollah needs to stop their reign of terror. On October 23rd 1983 they killed over 200 Marines for no reason. I want peace for everyone but how long can the world allow groups like Hezbollah to act as they do. With that said, I think Israel needs to be held accountable for the innocent deaths in Qanalast week. This is a war between them and the US will only get involved if Iran does. I believe Iran wants to pull America into this war. Nothing good can come from this
